Valid test IBANs for all 89 countries in the SWIFT IBAN registry, taken from the registry’s own published examples, and broken ones labelled by what is wrong. Use them to test IBAN validation in forms, imports and payment flows, and never send money to them.

Broken test IBANs
Each breaks one rule, so a validator should reject it at the test named on the right. The last four pass the IBAN’s mod-97 check and fail only the country’s national check digit, which catches validators that stop at mod 97.

Frequently asked questions
They are the example IBANs the SWIFT IBAN registry publishes for each country. They pass every format and check-digit test, which is what makes them useful for testing, but nobody has given them to you to pay, so never use them for a real payment.
DE89 3704 0044 0532 0130 00, the registry’s German example, as the case that should pass. Pair it with DE88 3704 0044 0532 0130 00, which differs only in the check digits, as the case that should fail.
Because the national check digits inside the account number can be wrong while the IBAN’s own two check digits are recalculated to match. A validator that runs only mod 97 accepts BE41 5390 0754 7035; one that also runs Belgium’s national check rejects it.
Usually yes: IBANs are printed in groups of four and often pasted that way. Remove spaces and capitalise before you validate, then store the electronic format, and reject anything else that is not a letter or a digit, such as dashes.
